Aktar Testimonial
When designing his private residence, Aktar Islam sought a kitchen that could comfortably bridge the gap between professional performance and everyday living. As a two Michelin star chef, the space needed to deliver the efficiency, precision and reliability expected within a commercial kitchen environment, while still feeling warm and welcoming within the context of his home.
The brief centred on creating a space that would support Aktar’s natural workflow when cooking, ensuring appliances and preparation areas were positioned with intention and ease of access. At the same time, the kitchen needed to remain a social environment where friends and family could gather comfortably.
Materiality and atmosphere were also key considerations. Aktar wanted a darker, more refined palette that reflected his personal style while maintaining the architectural clarity and understated luxury associated with SieMatic.
Senior Designer Kalun Law responded to the brief by specifying a scheme centred around SieMatic’s Oolong Oak veneer, paired with SieMatic Black cabinetry to create a rich, contemporary atmosphere. The warmth of the timber finish is balanced by the deep, architectural tones of the cabinetry, while SieMatic’s Gold Bronze handles introduce a subtle layer of refinement.
The kitchen was designed using the SieMatic SLX concept, allowing the handleless architecture to maintain clean visual lines while supporting an intuitive cooking environment.
Performance was prioritised through the integration of Gaggenau appliances, chosen for their precision, durability and professional heritage. A Dekton Keyla 12mm worktop provides a highly durable preparation surface with a distinctive natural stone aesthetic, while carefully selected details such as the Quooker tap and Blanco sink ensure the space functions effortlessly in daily use.
The result is a kitchen that reflects Aktar’s own culinary philosophy: disciplined, refined and built around precision, yet equally suited to moments of relaxation and hospitality at home.
